When a photo helps
A photo is not mandatory. However, for some problems, you can see at a glance what the issue is:
- bent or tilted hand
- hands touching each other
- transport damage to the packaging
- movement mounted on the dial – then we can see how it's positioned
For "not working", a photo usually helps little. In this case, it's better to briefly describe what you have already tried.
The clock movement does not start
- Is a fresh battery inserted? Batteries from a drawer are often dead, even if they look new. We recommend a high-quality alkaline battery.
- Is the battery inserted correctly and making contact with both terminals?
- Are the hands touching each other or rubbing against the dial? This will block the movement. The hands must run freely and with some distance from each other.
- Is the minute hand seated firmly enough on the shaft?
The clock is wrong or stops
- Again, a rubbing hand is usually the cause.
- Is the nut tightened too much? This can jam the shaft.
Radio-controlled movement does not set itself
- Receiving the time signal transmitter DCF77 takes time – allow up to 24 hours.
- Reception is best at night.
- Metal, reinforced concrete, electrical appliances, screens, and routers interfere with the signal. Place the movement by a window for setting.
- Reception is often not possible in basements.
The hand does not fit
Compare the information in the product description: hand fitting, shaft length, thread length, and maximum dial thickness.
Write to us if you are unsure which movement fits your set of hands – we will check together.
